Laser Treatments: Hair Removal, Liposculpture, And More

Photorejuvenation can reduce the appearance of many signs of aging on our skin, including sun damage, freckles, age spots, acne scarring, enlarged pores, and redness caused by broken capillaries and rosacea. Treatments can also improve the appearance of birthmarks and uneven pigmentation.

Photorejuvenation with the Palomar Starlux 500 and Sciton Profile lasers works by using non-invasive, painless pulses of light to even out pigmentation, reduce redness and stimulate collagen growth for an overall fuller and younger-looking appearance. There is no recovery time associated with this procedure, with most patients achieving desired results after multiple sessions.

Laser Liposculpture

Laser liposculpture is an FDA-approved cosmetic procedure used to remove localized areas of fat from the face and body and tighten the skin as well. CoolLipo laser liposculpture targets aged, sagging areas within the chin, neck and jowls to remove excess fat cells and improve the appearance of the face and neck without the need for a facelift, neck lift or other type of surgery.

During the CoolLipo procedure, the targeted fat cells are heated with the laser energy and then easily removed in a liquefied form. The unique laser energy also affects the skin in the treated area, as the heat stimulates collagen production and tightens the skin.

Laser Facial Resurfacing

As we age, our skin begins to change as a result of several different life factors. The natural collagen within the skin begins to diminish and skin may sag and droop. Smoking, alcohol consumption, sun exposure, nutrition and more can also lead to the development of wrinkles and fine lines within the skin. Other skin conditions such as acne, brown spots and chicken pox can leave unattractive blemishes on the skin.

Laser skin resurfacing is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure used to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines and other skin irregularities. Performed with the Sciton Profile or Lumenis CO2 Ultra Pulse lasers, this procedure offers patients many advantages over traditional resurfacing procedures such as chemical peels and microdermabrasion, as it practically eliminates side effects such as discomfort, bleeding and bruising.

Laser Hair Removal

Many men and women have unwanted body hair that they are tired of removing through temporary, ineffective means such as shaving, waxing or bleaching. Laser hair removal performed with the Sciton® or Lumenis lasers permanently remove hair from targeted areas of the skin for smooth results through a safe, minimally invasive procedure.

During laser hair removal, the targeted area of skin is heated with laser energy to destroy hair follicles in the active growth state. An advanced cooling system ensures that the surface of the skin stays safe and is not damaged during treatment. To achieve hair-free skin, most patients will need a series of three to five treatments spaced three to eight weeks apart. This will ensure that all follicles will be treated while in the active growth phase for effective removal.

Facial Veins

Facial veins are a common skin condition that may develop as a result of aging, sun damage, rosacea, pregnancy or birth control use. These veins appear on the skin of the face as small red lines, and are considered to be permanently dilated blood vessels. While they do not cause any medical concerns, many patients are bothered by their appearance and seek treatment to reduce them.

Iridex diode and YAG lasers make treating vascular pigmented lesions easier and more effective than ever before. Three different lasers have been designed to treat lesions at different levels within the skin. Each laser works by delivering energy directly to the target vessel(s), which then collapse and are naturally reabsorbed by the body. Results are visible after a single treatment; lesions grey immediately and flake off within 7-10 days. Nevertheless, two to three treatments are recommended for most patients to achieve the best possible long-lasting results.

Mole Removal

A mole, birthmark or other type of pigmented lesion commonly appears as a patch of skin that can range in size, color and texture. Although most are harmless, it is important for moles to be monitored and tested if they look suspicious, as they can develop into cancer. For many patients, moles are solely a cosmetic concern, and treatment may be sought to remove the mole and create smooth, beautiful skin.

Mole removal with the Ellman Radiowave treatment involves melting away the abnormal tissue with the special Ellman device. A numbing cream is applied over the area before treatment to minimize any potential discomfort. There is no downtime associated with this procedure, and scars usually heal well. The Ellman Radiowave treatment can be performed successfully on nearly any area of the body.
